after-hours jams, luthier consultations, and more. ResoSummit's home is the Scarritt-Bennett Center, a beautiful campus in Nashville's MusicRow-Vanderbilt area, with nightly performances at the Station Inn.
Our goal: to send you home with enough homework, ideas, and especially inspiration to make this a highly creative and productive time in your musical life.

RESOSUMMIT IS SOLD OUT ~ SIGN UP FOR THE WAIT LIST
We opened registration on Dec. 29 on a "first call" basis exclusively to those on the ResoSummit email list, and sold out very quickly.
Every year, we are able to offer openings to people on the wait list, so don't despair! Fill out this quick survey form to sign up for our wait list.
Registration Fee
The registration fee is $420. It includes all workshops and educational sessions, evening performances at The Station Inn, and the after-hours jam space. On-site housing and meals are available, but are not included in the registration fee.
A $120 deposit is payable upon registration. The balance is due by July 28, 2010. Our Cancellation & Refund Policy is posted at left; please review it carefully before registering.
Key dates & times
ResoSummit begins on Thursday, Oct. 28. Registration opens at 3pm, and on-site room check-in opens then also. There is an optional "get acquainted" dinner at 5:30pm in the Susie Gray Dining Hall at the Scarritt-Bennett, our ResoSummit "home", and the first official event of ResoSummit will be the 8pm performance that evening by New Found Road featuring special guest Justin Moses, at the Station Inn. Informal jamming space will be available beginning at 3pm, and is available after-hours each day of ResoSummit, as deep into the night as you wish to use it.
Friday features an all-Summit opening session, where you'll meet the faculty and hear them play in duos. Three workshop sessions follow, plus an "optional activities" hour with options ranging from informal performances to one-on-one opportunities to consult with faculty and our staff luthiers during "office hours". After a dinner break comes another Station Inn performance, followed by informal after-hours jamming. Saturday has a similar schedule, with four workshop sessions, an optional activities hour. This year, the Saturday evening performance will be by Darren Beachley & Legends of the Potomac, featuring Mike Auldridge.
Sunday features two morning workshop sessions, plus one 2-hour session after lunch. Typically, there are opportunities on Sunday for workshops at nearby recording studios, and the 2-hour final workshop is a good opportunity for a more in-depth treatment of key topics. ResoSummit then ends with a closing performance, either by a faculty member's band or ensemble, or a "Dobro All-Stars" performance featuring many faculty members, as was the case in 2009. This performance is scheduled to end by 6pm. Some participants leave on Sunday afternoon or evening; others stay overnight and leave on Monday, so we provide after-hours jamming space for Sunday night.
Optional on-site housing
We offer on-site rooms at Scarritt-Bennett, a beautiful former college campus, as a convenient, low-cost option for ResoSummit participants. We also offer a group rate at the nearby Courtyard by Marriott (details below), and several other hotels are within walking distance to the Summit.
Room Description: Scarritt-Bennett rooms are renovated dorm rooms, with a shared bathroom located between two rooms. If you stay on-site, you will be sharing a bathroom with one other ResoSummit participant. Although room size varies, almost all S-B rooms are very small rooms with ONE TWIN BED. Linens are provided, but please note that there is no maid service during your stay; fresh towels/linens are available from the Front Desk in Laskey Hall.
Standard & Upgraded Rooms: Scarritt-Bennett offers "standard" and "upgraded" rooms. Standard rooms are located in either Bragg Hall or Cadwallader Hall. Upgraded rooms are located in Gibson Hall. Please note that upgraded rooms DO NOT have a private bath. Upgraded rooms, unlike standard rooms, have TV and high-speed internet access. (Please note that wireless internet access plus several computers and a printer are available to all ResoSummit participants in the Laskey Building lobby/lounge area.) All the dorms (both standard and upgraded) have a common lounge with a TV, refrigerator, sink, etc., for your use. If you have any special needs (a first floor room, a handicapped-accessible room, etc.), please let us know by email.
Room availability: This year, we should have enough single rooms for everyone who signs up for one during registration. (Doubles are extremely limited; see the section on doubles rooms, below.) Please note that we may not be able to add a room for you later, if you don't reserve one now during registration. We are also able to cancel very few rooms once we have booked them, so please review our cancellation & refund policy carefully before booking an on-site room.
Scarritt-Bennett's No-Smoking & No-Alcohol Policies: Please also note that Scarritt-Bennett is a non-smoking facility (even in its outdoor spaces, except for the public sidewalk surrounding the campus), and has a no-alcohol policy for all of its premises. Please do not reserve an on-site room if you want a room in which smoking or alcohol is allowed. Instead, we recommend one of the hotels in walking range of Scarritt-Bennett. (Note that we will be at the Station Inn each evening, and there are many restaurants and other establishments serving alcohol within a few blocks of S-B.)
Available dates & extra days: We offer on-site rooms for either three nights (Thurs.-Sat. nights) or four nights (Thurs.-Sun. nights). If you want a room for a three-night period beginning on Friday instead of Thursday, please contact us by email or phone and let us know that; otherwise, 3-day bookings are for Thursday-Saturday nights. Some people travel to Nashville early, or stay late; if you wish to book a Scarritt-Bennett room for nights not covered by our room block, please contact Scarritt-Bennett directly at 1.866.420.5486, and they will accommodate you if possible.
Rates: Standard room, 3 nights, $175; 4 nights, $230. Upgraded room, 3 nights, $235; 4 nights, $310. (All rates include taxes, the convention center room fee, and a service fee to cover credit card processing,) The cost for a doubles room is the same, but booking the adjacent room is now required (see below).
Room sharing: Because the rooms are small and have only one twin bed, they are not suitable for sharing. However, if you know other people who are attending ResoSummit, and would like to designate the person whose room will be adjacent to (and share a bath with) your room, we are happy to make those arrangements with Scarritt-Bennett if we have advance notice. Send us an email with this information by Sept. 1.
Doubles rooms: A very limited number of doubles rooms are available. Some have two twins beds (Bragg or Gibson), and some have one double bed (Bragg) or one queen bed (Gibson). Because we have very few doubles rooms, we will give priority to couples and family groups for these rooms. A big change for 2010: doubles rooms will NOT have a private bath unless you pay for the adjacent room as well as your doubles room. This is because we are now required to pay for the adjacent room in order to give the doubles room a private bath. Therefore, for 2010, we will assign a doubles room to you only if you also book and pay for the adjacent room, or if you know someone who is willing to take the adjacent room. We will not otherwise be assigning individuals to a room adjacent to a double, to avoid having 3 people sharing one bathroom. In some cases, the room adjoining a doubles room is another doubles room; in other cases, it is a single. We will try our best to assign the doubles room configuration that best meets your needs. If you want a doubles room, please complete your registration survey as quickly as possible to establish your priority for room assignment, then send an email to us to let us know you are interested in a doubles room, and tell us what room configuration works best for you (double/queen bed; two twins; standard or upgraded). Pay your housing deposit only after you have confirmation from us that we can assign you rooms that meet your needs.
Participant Comments About On-Site Housing: On the 2009 post-Summit survey, on-site lodging was rated a 3.8 (on a scale of 1 to 5, with 1=poor and 5=excellent). Here are some of the comments ResoSummit participants have made about on-site lodging in our evaluation surveys:

"Nice that there's wireless. I like the simple accommodations and prefer being on site. Nearby Starbucks is key!
"The room was a little stuffy, sharing a bathroom was a little inconvenient."
"The lodging was adequate and convenient."
"Hate sharing bathrooms - but the convenience was worth it."
"The lodging was plain, but adequate for what we needed."
"Rooms fine if tiny."
